Wine list | Sagrantino di Montefalco |
The ultimate wine experience translated into an exceptional Montefalco Sagrantino wine. Vinified only and exclusively in the best vintages, Medeo is dedicated to Amedeo Romanelli founder of the company. The grapes come from a specific particle where the ripening is favored by the particular balance of the ecosystem. The production area is that of the vineyards owned in Colle San Clemente di Montefalco. For the production are used 100% pure Sagrantino grapes. The breeding altitude of the vineyards does not exceed 350m above sea level, and the type of soil on which they are raised has predominantly Franco-clay characteristics, with limestone presence. The system of breeding is the spurred cordon and in this way it is possible to reach a density of vines equal to 5.000 units per hectare of land. Production never exceeds 50 quintals. This allows the production of a small number of bottles. The harvest takes place in October and lasts until the first ten days of November. The maceration takes place with the skins for 60 days. Then the aging is 24 months in French wooden barrels of 225 liters. Then another 18 months in bottle. This spectacular Rosso Umbro wine has an excellent aging potential that extends up to 20 years.
