The Lamezia Rosso Riserva is a DOC wine typical of Calabria. Its production is permitted only in the Catanzaro province. This DOC wine is one of the most important product of Calabria. Its production is based on the local vines with a 35% of “Magliocco Canino”, 35% of Greco Nero and 30% of “Nerello”. The production territories are rocky, calcareous and clay. The cultivation are located at 250 meters above the sea level and the method is the classical Guyot. The wine making takes place with the picking of the grapes when they are completely ripen. It follows the destemming and the fermentation with an intense maceration for about 18 days. The wine called “flower” after the aging of 2 years is refined in French oak barrels for at least 12 months. A further refinement of 6 months takes place in bottles before being commercialized.

The Lamezia Rosso Riserva DOC has an intense and deep ruby red color. The scent is wide and involving, slightly spicy. The taste is soft, balanced and well structured. There are some vanilla, coffee and chocolate flavors, all persistent. The refinement in barrels exalts the body, the balance and the pleasant spicy aromas.
