Wine description

This is a magnificent red wine from Calabria. The Dragone Rosso is made by Magliocco, Merlot grapes which are typical of the Southern of Calabria exposed to the warm winds coming from the south and to the light breeze of the Mediterranean sea. All the vines are cultivated at 250 meters above the sea level. The production grounds have particular features of calcareous origins mixed with clay grounds. The coat of the grounds are thin and deep which is a typical characteristic of the south of Calabria where the Cellar Lento, works with its history and tradition in the creation of the local traditional wines. The production process which is strictly handmade previews a manual picking of the grapes which are lately destemmed and put in maceration for at least 8 days. The must obtained, after the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation is transformed in wine. At this point there is the refinement in stainless steel tanks for a short period and then is poured in French oak barrels for a further prestigious refinement.

 

Characteristics of this red wine

The Dragone Rosso Selezione IGT has an intense ruby red color. The scent is wide and full of red berries fruits aroma with a spicy and persistent aftertaste which immediately envelopes. It has an important structure and it is full of tannins. It is balanced and rich, velvety on the tongue and very pleasant.

 

Suggested matches while tasting this wine from Calabria

It has to be served between the 16-18°C. It is perfect with structured meats, roasted beef and game with potatoes, tasty and spicy aromas. It is suggested the match with the typical cooking from Calabria such as the roasted kid with potatoes or boar in humid.
