This Barbaresco from Marziano Abbona Winery is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown northeast of Alba. Powerful but not invasive, Barbaresco is one of the most prestigious wines of the Langhe region. The grapes are harvested by hand during the harvest and undergo destemming and crushing, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts. Fermentation takes place in contact with the skins in steel tanks for a period of 18 days. After racking and transfer to 500-litre oak barrels, malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrels, followed by 20 months of ageing and blending in steel tanks. After bottling, the wine rests in the bottle for a further 18 months before being released for sale.
Characteristics of this Barbaresco
With a deep red colour and ruby reflections, this Barbaresco impresses with its particularly intense aromas of cherry, violet, spices and balsamic notes. It is powerful on the palate, with a rich and intense flavour thanks to its delicate tannins.
