Wine description

The Les Crets winery produces this fantastic label DOP certified by using 100% “Petite Arvine” grapes. These are white berries belonging to the local lineage from Aosta. The production area are the “Champorrette” for the DOP one and “Bufferia di Aymavilles” in the Aosta province at north. The cultivated is on slope morainic, loose and sandy soils which are exposed at west and south. They are at 500-650 meters above the sea level. The vines are extended for 3,5 hectares and are cultivated with the French Guyot method. The trees density is 7500 units per hectares with an annual profit of 1000 kg per hectare. The grape harvest takes in September. There is a soft pressing of the grapes and the following fermentation which lasts 12 days. This process takes place in stainless steel tanks at 18°C. The aging lasts 6 months “sur lies” with several bâtonnages. The particularity of this wine is the name in fact is called like this for its little berries. Its paternity is competed between Aosta and Switzerland. A Swiss research shows that the Petite Arvine cultivated in Switzerland comes from the Orious variety which is an Aosta local variety. For this reason the Aosta valley claims the paternity.

Characteristics of the Petite Arvine Valle d’Aosta DOP wine

It has a crystal aspect with a straw yellow color with green reflections. The perfume is delicate, floral, citron (grapefruit) with exotic hint such as the passion fruit. The taste is balanced, soft, persistent with remarkable salinity typical of the Petite Arvine.

Suggested pairings with this great white wine from Aosta
