“Santa Caterina DOCG” is produced with 100% Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile grapes, cultivated on the hill of Santa Caterina, along the “Via Lauretana”, that was the historical border between the “Stato Pontificio” and “Gran Ducato di Toscana”. Santa Caterina hill is an exclusive part of Trerose estate that has particular features: it is the only area where you can find exclusively Sangiovese, planted with different expositions. The soils were originated by the sea, that left sands, loam and clay. The climate that characterize these lands is unique, due to the influence of Trasimeno lake. These particular elements generate the secret and the innovation of Vino Nobile di Montpulciano. Depending on the selection, the grapes are fermented and aged in different ways, in order to respect and exalt their special characteristics (fruits, softness, tannins, minerality…).

Recommended food pairings while tasting this red of Tuscany
This complex wine is excellent with structured dishes, like red meat, game and cheeses. You have to try it with baked lamb. It has to be served at 16°C in a wide wine glass that helps the oxygenation.
