It is produced by 100% Nebbiolo grapes property of the Filari di Luna winery. The Quarto di Luna vines are cultivated with the Classic Guyot method. They were planted in 1990 at Vezza d’Alba and Castagnito, two hamlets at 250 and 300 meters above the sea level. The soil is rich of clay marl and limestone. The grapes harvest takes place in October. There is a manual picking and the berries have to macerate on their peels with several daily pumping over of the must. The wine making process takes place in steel tanks under temperature control and the refinement takes place in oak barrels and finally in bottles.
Characteristics of the red wine from Piedmont
It has a deep red garnet colour. It has an intense floral and little berries bouquet such as rose, violet, raspberries and liquorice with a balsamic aroma. The taste is warm and balanced and the sweet tannins give softness and persistence to the taste.
