The vines used for its vinification are represented by a complex blend of grapes that for 64% are of Merlot, for 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, as well as 9% Petit Verdot. The harvest for the refined Ornellaia winery took place by hand in 15 kg boxes and the bunches were selected on a double sorting table before and after destemming and subjected to a soft crushing at the end. Each variety and parcel was vinified separately. The alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at temperatures between 26-30 ºC for two weeks followed by maceration of about 10-15 days. The malolactic fermentation began in steel vats, and came to an end after the transfer in barriques (25% new and 75% second pass). The wine remained in barriques in the Ornellaia cellar at controlled temperature for a period of about 15 months. After the first 12 months it was assembled and then reintroduced in barriques where he spent another 3 months. The wine remains in the bottle six months before being placed on the market.

On organoleptic examination it is presented as a wine with an intense and noble ruby red aspect. The aroma is broad and fruity intense and ripe, highlighted by notes finely spicy and toasted. The taste on the palate is round and at the same time enveloping. The soft and silky tannins dance in the mouth and give sublime sensations of strength and body.
