The Champagne Rosé Brut of the Maison Krug was born during the harvest of 1976, after numerous tasting sessions it was presented to the world six years later, in 1983. This Champagne comes from the blending of different vintages of three different grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vinified white, together with a small percentage of Pinot Noir vinified in red from old vineyards. The grapes are taken to the cellar for pressing at the press, then the alcoholic fermentation takes place in small French oak barrels very old, for a few weeks, to obtain in base wine. A part of Pinot Noir is not pressed, but is pressed slightly and will ferment on the skins to release a rosy hue that distinguishes Krug Rosé. The various bases of the vintage wine are assembled with a 66% reserve wine to create the Cuvée. After this, the liquer de tirage is added, for the second fermentation with refermentation in the bottle on the lees for at least 60 months. Finally, the liquer d'expedition is disgorged and added.
Features of this Champagne
In the glass, the Krug Rosè has an anti-coasted pink color with coppery reflections, a very fine and persistent perlage. The scent is very elegant with aromas of citrus, berries, spices, honey, pastry and dried fruit. The palate is elegant and balanced with hints of aromatic toasts, citrus and minerals of long persistence.
Recommended pairings tasting this Champagne
This Cuveè by Maison Krug goes well with first or second courses of fish, steamed shellfish, or seafood. Another valid option is pairing with sushi or mature cheeses. To make this Champagne express at its best, it is recommended to make it breathe 15/30 minutes before serving, which must take place at a temperature of 10º-12ºC in a narrow glass with a pointed bottom so as not to disperse the perlage.
